Personally, I like the new Timeline for Brand Pages. Some of my associates that I talked with, not so much. I think it gives a business a great opportunity to bring their business to life. You are on Pinterest right? Are you "pining" to your Boards? Pinterest is sweeping the nation and is the new kid on the block in the Social Media world. During the last few months Social Media Professionals have been working on including Pinterest into their strategies. Is it all worth it? Soon, we shall find out.
If you haven’t heard, Pinterest is a social media site where people can create their own “boards”, on which they can pin pictures, videos, items for sale - they find across the entire web. People are pining items on boards like, Food, Drink, Fashion, Gifts, or anything they may find interesting and want to share it with their friends. A modern day scrap-booking if you will.
Now, you can see big brands on Pinterest such as Burberry.
I guess the key question to ask is, will it drive traffic to your website?
According to a Shareaholic study, Pinterest now beats YouTube, Reddit, Google+, LinkedIn and MySpace for percentage of total referral traffic. Pinterest accounted for 3.6% of referral traffic, whereas Twitter just edged them out at 3.61%. Facebook remains the King at 26.4% of traffic.
Just to put it bluntly, Pinterest is Addicting. Go check it out for yourself.
If you do decide to give it a try for your business, here are a couple of things to think about:
1) Become an Active User
2) Help others by “re-pinn” it.
3) Know who to Follow
4) Diversify your Boards
5) Use it like a real user would
